Future Events

Initially, Convivium will grow out of a series of annual events held at or near Brecon Cathedral, each of which will be focused on one or more of our aims. Events in the planning now, include:

2018

  • Focused on issues of sustainability, conservation, and engaging with the natural world.

St Eluned’s Day Festival (1 Aug 2018)

  • Focused on Welsh heritage and culture, especially the role Christianity has played in enriching and sustaining Welsh identity.

Harvest Festival & Community Meal (6 October 2018)

  • Focused on issues that impact farming and agricultural communities.
2019

Academic Conference:  ‘Reading, writing, and collecting: Books and manuscripts in Wales, 1450-1850’ (23-24 April 2019)

  • Focused on Welsh heritage but aimed at academics and researchers.

Second Annual Convivium Festival (Mid-May or early June 2019)

  • Expanded into a 2-day festival with additional ways for people to enjoy the outdoors and engage with issues of sustainability and conservation.

Convivium Retreat (the week after the Festival)

  • Focused on and shaped by a theological exploration of the Convivium principles and involving a prominent theologian.

St Eluned’s Day (1 August 2019)

  • Continued focus on Welsh heritage and culture, especially the role Christianity has played in enriching and sustaining Welsh identity.

Harvest Festival (October 2019)

  • Continued focus on issues that impact farming and agricultural communities

These are only the major events planned for the next couple of years. As the initiative develops, we hope to offer additional ways for people to engage with the Convivium vision and join us in trying to build communities that ‘enjoy the world aright.’

This is only the beginning…
